About Precursor

Build less. Enable more.

Precursor is a lightweight WordPress framework by BLOKS, built to provide a clean foundation for semantic HTML, reusable components, child themes, and builder-optional workflows.

Why Precursor?

Most themes try to do everything. Precursor doesn’t.

Many WordPress themes attempt to become complete website builders. Precursor takes a different approach. It provides the foundation, then gets out of your way.

The framework handles structure, navigation, design tokens, responsive behavior, and reusable components. Visual identity belongs in child themes. Content structure belongs to the author.

Framework First

Precursor provides a stable foundation of templates, layout systems, design controls, and reusable HTML primitives.

HTML First

Precursor favors clean, understandable markup instead of unnecessary abstraction layers.

Builder Optional

Use the WordPress editor, the BLOKS Code Editor, another page builder, or no builder at all.

Child Theme Ready

The framework provides structure. Child themes provide personality.

Precursor is designed to support a family of child themes without forcing every site to share the same visual identity.

Core idea: Branding belongs in child themes. Structure belongs in the framework.

Built by BLOKS

A foundation for a growing ecosystem.

Precursor is developed by BLOKS as part of a broader ecosystem of WordPress themes, plugins, creative coding tools, and publishing systems.

It is designed to work beautifully on its own, while also integrating naturally with the BLOKS Code Editor and future BLOKS tools.
