The Customizer

Shape the framework without touching code.

Precursor includes a focused set of Customizer controls for layout, typography, colors, header behavior, and visual style.

Header Controls

Start with your site structure.

Header Layout

Choose between Classic, Centered, Left Stack, and Wide Classic header layouts.

Header Width

Set the header to Contained, Wide, or Full Width depending on the site style you want.

Logo Width

Adjust your logo size without needing custom CSS.

Sticky Header

Keep the header visible as visitors scroll through longer pages.

Accent Bar

Show or hide Precursor's signature accent bar across the top of the site header.

Mobile Navigation

Precursor includes responsive navigation designed to work cleanly on phones, tablets, and desktops.

Design Controls

Control the visual foundation.

Precursor uses design tokens powered by CSS custom properties. The Customizer gives you a simple interface for adjusting those values without turning the framework into a bloated design tool.

Design principle: Precursor gives you useful controls while keeping visual identity in your child theme.

Color Presets

Choose from Default, Ocean, Forest, Plum, Slate, Warm, or define your own custom palette.

Typography

Select a base font and heading font to establish your site's reading experience.

Style Presets

Switch between Minimal, Modern, Soft, and Sharp visual treatments.

Content Width

Adjust the maximum reading width for pages, posts, archives, and long-form content.

Custom Colors

Fine-tune background, surface, text, border, accent, and muted colors.

Child Theme Friendly

Child themes can inherit, override, or extend Precursor's design tokens as needed.

Best Practice

Use controls for structure. Use child themes for identity.

The Customizer is ideal for broad framework settings. For deeper branding, custom layouts, and visual personality, build or install a Precursor child theme.

Simple rule: Configure the foundation. Design the experience.
